THE PROCESS
THE PROCESS
As a VELOS owner, you are part of an exclusive group of individuals. Each owner may be known for who they are or what they do, but our customers have one thing in common: they experience the world on their terms. This motorcycle is not for everyone. You may not see another one on the road unless you are at an owner's event. Because of each VELOS’ bespoke nature, it does not matter, yours is one of a kind.
Pete Roberts
ORIGIN Founder/CEO
CLIENT SPOTLIGHT
Utilizing a set of bison leather boots and carbon-colored denim jeans as inspiration and an homage to ORIGIN’s commitment to American Manufacturing, the process of seeing his VELOS began. With a bison leather used on ORIGIN’s boots for his seat and seeking to also match the brass eyelets of these boots as his secondary highlight color.
Once riding style, engine parameters, and ergonomics were confirmed, the next step is design. To customize Pete’s VELOS and make it completely unique, all customization options, including color schemes, leather, stitching pattern, and rims, were complied. His vision was to tie elements of the Durable Goods ORIGIN manufactures at their facility in Maine.
Taking into consideration Pete’s use case of darting between ORIGIN’s facilities during the week and carving the back roads of Northern Maine and the White Mountains, we decided to give his engine the works treatment. This included a 2147CC motor with an abundance of torque, an improved clutch, our filtered velocity stack air intake system, and equal-length, 2-into-1 stainless steel headers leading into a titanium muffler.
Pete Roberts, one of our customers, featured below is 6’3” and weighs 265 lbs. He has two bulging discs and years of training in Jiu-Jitsu have changed his musculature over time. For Pete, his comfortable seating position is more upright, slightly forward, and prefers his arches resting on the foot pegs with his toes pointed out.
Pete uses motorcycles to sprint between his factories and facilities while enjoying weekends ripping through Northern Maine and the White Mountains of New Hampshire to stretch the machines legs and allow himself time to organize his thoughts free from distractions.
He chose a main fuel tank color of matte black carrying over to the fenders paired with a gloss black frame and gloss carbon fiber wheels. He also opted to black out his engine with hints of brass for highlights.
Prior to manufacturing his VELOS, we presented Pete with multiple photo-realistic renderings of his motorcycle for final approval. At this stage, a few final tweaks were made before his VELOS came to life. Below are the approved renderings for Pete’s Motorcycle.
The build usually takes 3-4 months to complete. During this time, our team will send videos and photos of your VELOS at each step. The first time you lay eyes on your completed motorcycle is on delivery.

RESERVE YOUR VELOS
Reserving your VELOS ensures your build allocation, we limit ourselves to 20 motorcycles per year resulting in uncompromising quality and made-to-order customizations, unlike anything available on the market. In this process, we will get an idea of the color schemes you are looking for, your confidence level, and your riding style.
DESIGN CONSULTATION & PAYMENT DEPOSIT
First, we meet with you and a Doctor of Physical Therapy certified by the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists to measure 15 key points and discuss your past injuries and how they may affect your riding comfort. With this information Audette engineers specific touch points (seat, foot controls, and hand controls) for you. During this meeting, we will have prepared 3-6 variations of color schemes to present to you, along with color swatches. Together we will make alterations, and notes and share ideas on how we will build your perfect VELOS.

Once your design consultation is complete and we know how your VELOS is specified, the manufacturing process takes between 3-4 months due to the fact that every VELOS is made to order by American hands at our facility in Connecticut.
